Having all the icons up top to the side is nice… also I like how there arn’t a bunch of tabs. Looks like an easy site.

What would be cool tho on band sites is a “search” bar where you can enter your zip code/ state/ city whatever… and you can see when they have shows within a certain radius (100 miles or something like that)

Then you could enter your email address and get a little update reminding you that a Shane and Shane show is coming up in your area.

Sometimes it’s hard to find out that Shane and Shane or Phil Wickham, those type of artists, are playing at the church an hour up the road. They don’t show up on Ticketmaster

I really like your guys site tho… keep it up

I really like it. I am really beginning to like the minmimal designs, but this one is laid out nicely and the navigation is very logical.

  • I love it. I really, really, really, really, really didn’t like their previous all-flash, 5 hour intro, small text site.

I’m so glad you’re redoing it and bringing them into the web 2.0 era. Great job!

Are you planning on adding a music player somewhere there at the top? I think that would be a great addition.

  • You’re probably already going to do this, but I think a welcome video would be cool. At least for the first few days or weeks – perhaps in the left column – to engage new visitors and share the vision for the site/blog.

(I love brainstorming – so I’m very excited about this site. I’ll try not to bug you too much, though.)

    :-)

  • I like the visual of the site. As someone who would be new to them, I would love to be able to hear their music and/or see a video to further engage me. I dig the photo of them with all the pages surrounding them. It speaks volumes to me.

    Great work :-D .

  • Love the layout. Since I’m not a big computer person, I love the simplicity of the page. Oh, and do I need to learn a new language to be able to read the pages, or will their be a “translate to English” button? You guys rock.

I love the simplicity of the design. I am into white pages at the moment.

A quick brainstorm… the shows page should have a different feed, whenever a new show is added I get told and can look to see if it is my area. or artist could just say hey new shows added. But they should remember to do that.

Or perhaps skorinc could have a blog specifically about their (your) artist’s shows. I know more work for you…

  • Good idea Kyle. Perhaps they could do an aggregate feed (for all artists) based on a particular category or tag.

Another idea is to include a region info box into a newsletter sign up page. Then, anytime the artist goes to that region, the people there will be notified via email.

@Alex – Thats a great idea, we’ve been looking into other online apps that can log their tourdates and offer that kind of search, and some cool stuff for the artist as well.

@Charley – I think I’m way into minimal right now, although I will admit I need to crack the shel I feel like I’ve been in lately… Find some new inspiration and break some new ground. :)

@TheSecretLifeOfKat – We’ve been working on finding a good music player for a while now, something that has all the options but keep the music safe from malicious downloaders. While at the same time keeping it simple small and easy to see and navigate. I’m the type of person that doesn’t like music to start when i got to a site, but Musicians should have players on their sites.

p.s. Feel free to brain storm all you want, we love it…

@Kristy WMDA – Thanks for the encouragement, glad we’re speaking volumes with out getting our tongues tied,,, or something like that.

@Shellie – I love that you love it,,, and Latin just happens to be my native language!

@Kyle Ray – Im with you on the Feed, were hoping the same tool we use for updating tour dates will have some serious RSS options as well… Let us know if you see anything you recommend.

its great. simple, clean and easy to follow through.

  • Steven Rossi says:

I almost feel like the date box on the right looks a little out of place. Well actually, I think the white text on the right looks a little out of place. I’d be interested in seeing a shortened (height-wise, the same as the combined height of the title and comments count) date box that’s aligned right, above the text of the post rather than to the right of it. This format may end up looking better; I was just brainstorming.

I agree that a music player would be nice, but it’s annoying to me when the music auto-plays. It’d be nice if there was a music/video player that wouldn’t auto-play.

I’m excited to see that Shane and Shane are going with you guys…mostly because I couldn’t stand going to their website in the past. It was cool or whatever, but man it took forever. Nice work so far!

I agree that the Flash intro / site was a bit much and actually made me visit the site less. Sometimes I just want info without having to hunt for it. With bands, I like to be able to listen to their music and see tour dates quickly. It’ll definitely be great for Shane and Shane to connect with their fans a little bit more especially if they make frequent use of their Twitter and Flickr accounts.

But I have to ask… drop shadow much? ;)

great design. functional, clear, easy to navigate.

i love the faded word body background.

my one complaint: where’s the search bar? gotta give us a search bar!

as for content, would love to see a separate bio for each of the shanes. sometimes it’s nice to know a little more about the individuals.

  • Josh says:

I really like the simpleness of it and that you didn’t try and do to much

Is it possible to put on the side a list of upcoming shows. Like you have the twitter and the flickr boxes what about one that has shows that are coming up. How often do people actually click on the little tab at the top anyways…we all know its there but are to lazy to click it, that is unless your stats show that people actually click on those, but I know i dont. So if there was a section that had like 5 upcoming shows it would be an easy way to see what is going on!

  • Randy says:

@ Steven – I like your suggestion for the date box, I made a few alterations on that already. I feel the same, it just doesn’t fit there very well. I’ll send you a link.

  • sara says:

i love shane & shane and I cannot wait for their site to launch.

i like the simplicity of the site – too much and the floating pages & such they have going on now overwhelms me and also often diverts me from my original intentions.

i might be a weird one, but i do not want the music playing automatically, ever. i would be okay with having a music option to turn on when i want it – but not without warning ;)

the pages icon/pic underneath the apps on the left seems to be a little overpowering to me… i get the pages theme enough from the header.

i’d bet they’re going to vlog – will this just show up in date mode, like mercyme? or will it be in a side spot, like the flickr stream?

i don’t know much, if anything, when it comes to web design… so take this all lightly! it looks awesome – and i’m certain to visit whatever you put out there!

way to go skorinc! :) thank you!

  • To clarify, I agree with sara. Music should NEVER autoplay on a site.

  • bryan says:

    Winner…..I like the site.
    Simple to navigate!
I get so frustrated when you try to navigate a clustered site.
    Keep up the Great Work!

  • texas_tea says:

I really like the Web 2.0 buttons at the top left (under the header). It’s nice to not have to go to all the different sites and search to “Add” them…they’re all in one place.

On another note, I used to hang with these guys in college, and agree with your assessment…they’re about as easy to hang with and as genuine as they come! Glad to see you get to work with them! Congrats!

I always love a bio somewhere that you can find, if you are by chance a new listener. It is probably because I am just plain old, but I love knowing about the artist themselves. It looks incredible.
